First thanks to everyone who made the first day great. Ty Cerdd. Lynne Plowman. The Berkeley Ensemble. The other composers.
The individual ideas the composers had towards the work within this project and music as a whole was incredibly diverse. I was genuinely surprised. It's always good to be able share ideas without stepping on toes.
Anyway I think I should thank the Berkeley Ensemble again.
I'm working on a piece that explores the idea of 'persona'. The idea between a public and private self. So in keeping with this theme I hoped for a dichotomy in sound.
Very simply we tested out the instrumentalists singing and screaming voices.
It's truly awesome to be working with an ensemble so willing to really be open to exploration. I've worked with ensembles in the past where the concept of leaving comfort zones needs huge coaxing. Not the Berkeley Ensemble. Love them.
