Building an Ecosystem for Tradition

MOMA The Tabernacle, Heol Penrallt, Machynlleth, SY20 8AJ

Sunday 14 June 2026

Join us for a hands-on, collaborative “hack day” bringing together musicians, educators, arts officers and community organisers to map the traditional music ecosystem in Wales. This interactive session will led by Beth Celyn and Siôn Rickard alongside Tŷ Cerdd’s traditional music development manager, Jordan Price Williams. They will explore how people discover, access and move through traditional music and where barriers, gaps and opportunities exist across education, documentation, performance and funding.

Using creative tools participants will work together to build a shared picture of the current landscape. Through guided discussions, we’ll ask: where are the points of access and exclusion? What infrastructure already supports the tradition? And what could a more connected future look like?

This session aims to generate bold, practical ideas from imagining a “National Traditional Music Service” to designing clearer pathways into the tradition with outcomes that can help inform policy, strengthen networks and support future investment in the sector.

A space for big-picture thinking, creative problem-solving and collective vision-building this is about shaping the future of traditional music in Wales, together.
