We are starting an artist in residence project for creatives in the Orchard Street Gallery at our café, HQ Urban Kitchen, in the heart of Swansea’s creative quarter. Each residency is two weeks long, artists will be able to use the space during our normal opening hours Mon-Sat, 9am-4pm.
The first week of the residency begins on the Monday and runs until to the Friday of the same week, with a private view/artist event on the Saturday, during our regular opening hours (Mon-Sat 9am-4pm), with the work remaining in situ as a work in progress exhibition until coming down the following Saturday. Please let us know if you anticipate your work will be for sale.
Artists are welcome to sell their work directly without commission.
If artwork is sold through the cafe till we add 20% commission, then 20% VAT on top of the artist set price for the artwork.
All art forms welcome, but we must stipulate no toxic materials as we're a food venue, likewise, a bit of working noise is welcome, but nothing excessively loud that would interrupt our business. Sewing machines welcome!
Artwork must be collected on the final Saturday of each residency.
Wi-Fi and power points provided, artists are entitled to 25% discount on hot food and drink for the duration of the residency.
