RECORDING RECORDIO

Tŷ Cerdd is home to a professional recording studio which is situated behind the front office. Although it often used to record music by contemporary classical Welsh composers for Tŷ Cerdd's record label it is also available for private hire.

There is a large 'live room' (36' by 24') with an accompanying control room and roaming vocal booth. It is equipped with a 7' 4" Bösendorfer grand piano which is perfect for chamber and solo recital recordings as well as pop and jazz. Indeed, the studios engineers and producers are highly skilled in a vast range of genres.

Artists and clients who have recorded at the studio include Bryn Terfel, Cerys Matthews, Elin Manahan Thomas, Judith Weir (Master of the Queen's music), Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), Jem, John Owen Jones, Rebecca Evans, Llŷr Williams, Amy Wadge, Only Men Aloud, Wynne Evans, BBC, S4C and Welsh National Opera.

The studio also has a location recording service suitable for bands, chamber ensembles, orchestras, brass bands, and choirs. They can travel to record concerts and rehearsals with their high specification mobile equipment. Recordings will be edited, mixed and mastered back in the studios at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff. We can also film sessions/performances as well as provide audition media and electronic press kits.
