Simon Proffitt is a self-taught multi-disciplinary artist and musician based in Llangollen, north Wales. All of his sound-based work is an attempt to answer various questions of the form 'what would happen if...?' and he uses any sound source necessary to arrive at those answers, whether it be found, manipulated or generated, and whether it be conventionally musical or conventionally non-musical. Themes that often emerge in his work include chance, improvisation, ritual, fictional history, context, abstraction, juxtaposition and politics.

Simon has released dozens of works under a range of aliases, taking in everything from field recordings, noise, polyrhythmic trance and drone to solo acoustic instruments.
