Bwthyn Sonig is a long-term Tŷ Cerdd project enabling learning-disabled music-creators to create, produce and perform original music.
Bwthyn Sonig has a pan-Wales partnership approach, working in collaboration with Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias (Caernarfon), TAPE Community Music and Film (Colwyn), Two Rhythms (Cardiff), Gig Buddies, and Glasgow-based partner Sonic Bothy. With lead artists Teifi Emerald, John Thomas, Elin Taylor and Henry Horrell, the project is led by Rosey Brown (south) and Manon Gwynant (north). Bwthyn Sonig began as an ACW-funded Connect & Flourish project, in which music-creator Jo Thomas also partnered.

PAST EVENTS
We hosted two inclusive, fun and unique club nights celebrating a showcase of talent from South Wales, North Wales and across the UK.
Bwthyn Sonig’s first inclusive club night was hosted at Wales Millenium Centre in October 2024, with music, dancing, DJ sets and live performances from bands, solo acts, DJs, and headliners Electric Fire.
The second inclusive club night was hosted at Pontio, Bangor in November 2024. The night celebrating talent in North Wales included an album launch by Anarchy Wølf, a relaxed communal jamming session, and music by Llŷr Griffiths, Canfod y Gân, Theatr Pobl Ifanc y Gogledd Hijinx and Electric Fire.
