WELSH

MUSIC

COLLECTION

TÅ· Cerdd’s Welsh Music Collection is a substantial resource for information on Welsh classical music and composers. We hold copies of hundreds of published and unpublished scores by Welsh composers. A catalogue of the scores we hold can be viewed here, or if you have any enquiries about scores not listed, please contact Ethan Davies.

In addition to this, there are books, journals, newspaper clippings, programmes all relating to Welsh music, contained on our shelves, along with CDs, cassettes, and records of music and a small number of broadcasts. These items are generally for library use only and as such, are viewable by appointment arranged prior to your visit by contacting ethan.davies@tycerdd.org.

Among the miscellanea of the Welsh Music Collection are antiquities such as old exercise books with handwritten hymn tunes and words; published collections of harp music and folk songs; a collection of cinema sheet music from the Cardiff Capitol Theatre. Many of these items are rare or unique and date back to the early 19th Century.

If you are a Welsh composer and wish to lodge your scores, recordings and/or sketches with us, please contact ethan.davies@tycerdd.org. We accept hard copies as well as PDFs for digital archiving.

If you have any enquiries about what we hold in our Welsh Music Collection, please contact Ethan (ethan.davies@tycerdd.org) and we will do our best to assist you as quickly as possible.
