Ar gyfer y darn hwn, mi feddyliais ar y dechrau am gyfansoddi darn meistrolgar tu hwnt i’r ensemble, ond yn ystod cyfnod y gweithdai, sylweddolais fy mod yn cael fy nenu fwyaf at ddeunydd symlach, gyda llinellau cerddorol sy’n chwilota yn hytrach na datgan, yn cael eu perfformio fel deialog. Yr hyn a’m trawodd yn ystod dyddiau’r gweithdai gyda’r ensemble oedd yr ymdeimlad ag arbrofi a bod yn agored sy’n perthyn i grŵp wrth chwarae gyda deunydd newydd. Roeddwn am gyfansoddi darn sy’n rhoi digon o ofod a chyfeiriad i’r artistiaid unigol eu mynegi eu hunain, fel unawdwyr ac fel ensemble.

For this piece, I initially thought about writing a highly virtuosic piece for the ensemble, but throughout the workshop process I realised that I was most drawn to simpler material, with musical lines that are searching rather than stating, performed like a dialogue. What struck me during the workshop days with the ensemble was the sense of exploration and openness of a group playing with new material. I wanted to write a piece which gives enough space and direction for the individual artists to express themselves, as soloists and as an ensemble.
