Andrew Cusworth 1984

Raised in Wales, Andrew read music at Cambridge, where he was an organ scholar at Magdalene College; he later completed an MMus degree in choral studies, also at Cambridge, and received a PhD for research on Welsh traditional music from The Open University.

As a composer, he has written intensely emotive and atmospheric music for internationally renowned ensembles and soloists, as well as continuing to help to realise the musical aspirations of amateur choirs and ensembles through writing that is both flexible and effective. His music has been published by Novello and Curiad, and recorded and performed by artists ranging from community choirs to internationally renowned ensembles and concert soloists, including Kantos, Concanenda, John Turner, the BBC Singers, and Calmus Ensemble.

Ac yntau wedi'i fagu yng Nghymru, bu Andrew yn astudio cerddoriaeth yng Nghaergrawnt lle'r oedd yn ysgolor organ yng Ngholeg Magdalen; yn ddiweddarach, cwblhaodd radd MMus mewn astudiaethau corawl, hefyd yng Nghaergrawnt, ac enillodd ddoethuriaeth o'r Brifysgol Agored am ei ymchwil i gerddoriaeth draddodiadol Cymru.

Fel cyfansoddwr, mae wedi ysgrifennu cerddoriaeth emosiynol ac atmosfferig iawn i ensemblau ac unawdwyr o fri rhyngwladol, yn ogystal â pharhau i helpu i wireddu uchelgais gerddorol corau ac ensemblau amatur drwy greu cyfansoddiadau hyblyg ac effeithiol. Cafodd ei gerddoriaeth ei chyhoeddi gan Novello a Curiad, a'i recordio a'i pherfformio gan artistiaid sy'n estyn o gorau cymunedol i unawdwyr cyngerdd ac ensemblau rhyngwladol, gan gynnwys Kantos, Concanenda, John Turner, BBC Singers, a Calmus Ensemble.
