Dan Phelps 1981

Following studies at Bath Spa University and the RWCMD Dan Phelps has gone on to write for a number of chamber ensembles including Ensemble Cymru, the Mavron Quartet and the Gjylaci Duo. He has worked with Rubicon Dance, India Dance Wales, Elan Wales and Calon TV and in 2014 was commissioned by Intangible Productions to compose for its show ‘Heroes Incorporated’.

 

Dan’s piece ‘Minimum vs. Maximum’ for cello and piano, was premiered at the Bangor New Music Festival, was released on the album, ‘Pathways’ and subsequently broadcast on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio 6 Music’s Mix Tape. Among the other records of his music he has produced on his own record label are the albums 'Shadows', 'Serenity' and 'Reflections'. In 2016 ‘Shadows’ was used as a soundtrack by students from the Atrium, Cardiff for a series of short films.

 

Dan is an associate of Offa's Press which publishes ‘River Passage’, his collaboration with the poet Jeff Phelps.
