CYNEFIN

Mae sawl ystyr i’r gair cynefin yn y Gymraeg - ymdeimlad â pherthyn, cartref naturiol anifeiliaid neu blanhigion, rhywle neu ryw weithred sy’n gyfarwydd, llwybrau a thiriogaeth defaid ar y mynydd – y camau a’r siapiau rydyn ni’n eu ffurfio wrth droedio hen lwybrau. Beth mae’n ei olygu i berthyn i rywle, i gymuned? Beth yw’r synau a’r gofodau rydyn ni’n eu cyfanheddu ac yn gyfforddus ynddyn nhw a sut maen nhw’n wahanol i’r gofodau hynny lle y teimlwn fel dieithriaid?

 

Bob wythnos, byddwn yn edrych ar sawl gwahanol ymdeimlad â hunaniaeth a pherthyn, yng ngolwg pob actor yn yr Academi. Syniadau’r actorion a’r straeon roedden nhw am eu rhannu oedd yn gyrru pob darn o waith, gydag Anna ap Robert (coreograffydd) a finnau’n gweithredu fel hwyluswyr gan gynorthwyo’r ymchwiliad gyda symudiadau a cherddoriaeth.

Cynefin loosely translates in English as a sense of belonging, of habitat, of a place one knows well. Literally, it translates to mean the sheep trails carved into the hillsides. The steps and shapes we make when following journeys well-trodden. What does it mean to belong to a place, a community? What are the sounds and spaces we inhabit and are comfortable in, and how do they differ to those spaces where we feel like an outsider?


Each week, we explored different senses of identity and belonging, according to each actor in the Academy. Each work was driven by their ideas and the stories that they wanted to share, with Anna ap Robert (choreographer) and I acting as facilitators, aiding the exploration with movement and music.
