Christopher Maxim 1971

Born in Wrexham, Chris Maxim was Organ Scholar and a prize winner at the University of Bristol and was awarded a Research Studentship to Cardiff University, gaining his PhD in 1996.  During his years in Cardiff, Chris taught at the University and the RWCMD, was conductor of the University Chamber Choir and the Cardiff Bay Singers and Director of Music at St Teilo’s Church, Cathays.  He has lived in London since 2000 where, in addition to his composing activities, he is active as an organist, choral conductor, examiner and education consultant.

Chris’s music is regularly performed as far afield as Australia, Canada, South Africa and the USA.  It has been recorded on five CDs, broadcast on BBC and American Radio, and included in several festivals.  His publishers include Banks, Fagus, Paraclete Press, Stainer & Bell and the Royal School of Church Music.
