Tŷ Cerdd & National Eisteddfod commission songs from 5 young music-creators of colour
National Eisteddfod and Tŷ Cerdd – Music Centre Wales – have announced CoDI Cân, a collaboration for 2021 Eisteddfod Amgen. Following an open call, 5 artists aged under 26 will be commissioned to write, perform and create a music-video of a new song in the Welsh language – for a fee of £500 each. Each artist will be asked to create their own response to the cultural landscape of Wales, through original words and music.
The opportunity is open to music-creators of colour who are Welsh-speakers or Welsh-learners.
Participating artists will receive support and mentoring throughout the creative process:
Welsh-language/song-writing mentoring through the process will be provided by Lily Beau

Videography mentoring from Jonny Reed
Tŷ Cerdd will provide support and coordination throughout the creation period
The resulting five videos will be broadcast online on Monday 2 to Friday 6 August (of Eisteddfod week).
