Eluned Davies 2000

Eluned Davies is a Welsh composer, currently based in Swansea and London. She recently graduated from The Royal College of Music London having studied composition under Jonathan Cole and Catherine Kontz. Prior to a career in composition, Eluned trained in singing, giving her a particular affinity with vocal music and bringing a unique lyricism to her instrumental pieces also. A notable work is her chamber opera Growing Wings which was staged by the Royal College of Music’s Opera department in collaboration with Tete-a-Tete in 2022.

Both personal and universal themes are drawn upon in Davies’s music. For example her particular interest in feminism was explored in her quasi-interactive installation piece Never Look Always Notice II put on in the RCM’s annual Great Exhibitionists festival 2023. She has written for a variety of projects and ensembles including for the Hermes Experiment, for the geolocation app Treephonia, for the video game Mountain Messenger, and for pianist Victor Maslov in celebration of Tchaikovsky’s 120-year anniversary.
