Graham Williams 1940 

Graham Williams studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music with Barclay Wilson and later with Richard Rodney Bennett.  

 

He is a prolific composer and his works, which range from symphonies to chamber pieces and solo compositions, have received much critical acclaim both at home and abroad as well as a number of prestigious awards. They have been performed by well known orchestras and ensembles such as the Scottish National Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta and City of London Sinfonia and have been broadcast on both Radio 3 and Classic FM.

 

Graham taught composition at the Royal Academy of Music from 2004 to 2010 and founded and directed Music Past and Present, a successful concert series to promote new music.

To date he has written over 140 compositions including 15 string quartets.
