The Foundation offers main and emergency grants as a contribution towards living expenses for postgraduate women registered for study or research at an approved institution of higher education in the UK. Grants will only be given for a postgraduate doctoral award e.g. PhD or D.Phil. The criteria are the proven needs of the applicant and their academic calibre. Main grants are not likely to exceed £6,000. All grants are offered on a needs basis and the amount offered will vary. There is no age limit. Grants are offered to British and overseas students. Emergency grants are available to graduate women who face an unforeseen financial crisis whilst engaged in study or research at institutions of higher education in Great Britain. They are unlikely to exceed £2,500 and are offered twice a year, in May and November.
