Panedeni release their debut single, Tafod, on 1 March 2026, the first track from their forthcoming EP Atamanaa

Tafod, co-written by Yasmine Latkowski of Panedeniand fellow Welsh artist Siôn Rickard (Lo Fi Jones), combines bilingual lyrics with Egyptian percussion and acoustic folk instrumentation. The song explores the emotional distance between people when communication breaks down, reflecting struggles in personal relationships, and sometimes between people from different cultures, to finally meet in the middle. The melodies hint at sounds heard in both Arabic and Western music, accompanied by strong Egyptian rhythms.

Yasmine Latkowski says:  “Tafod is a celebration of making music that explores elements of cultural tradition and heritage made in Wales. The co-write with Siôn Rickard showcases the Welsh language, harmonies and collaboration between musicians passionate about sharing identity, music and culture.”

The upcoming EP Atamanaa (out 19 June 2026 on Sionci Records) expands Panedeni’s cross-cultural sound, featuring oud, guitar, violin, clarinet, flutes, bass, and percussion. Sung in four languages — Welsh, English, Arabic, and Bosnian — the EP blends traditional repertoire with original compositions, reflecting the band’s commitment to inclusivity and creating work that brings together distinct musical heritages while celebrating shared creativity through contemporary folk fusion.

Tafod will be available on all major streaming platforms from 1 March 2026.

Panedeni features in one of 15 films made by Tŷ Cerdd for St David’s Day, funded by Welsh Government's St David's Day 2026 fund. These films will also be released on 1 March: Tapestri | tycerdd
