Stephen Goss's music receives hundreds of performances worldwide each year and has been recorded on over 70 CDs by more than a dozen record labels (EMI, Decca, Virgin Classics, Naxos, and Deutsche Grammophon). His varied output includes orchestral and choral works, chamber music, and solo pieces. He is particularly well-known for his concertos and guitar music.


Steve has worked with many of the world’s leading orchestras - The Russian National Orchestra, The China National Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, The State Symphony Orchestra ‘New Russia’, The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra. His ‘Guitar Concerto’ recorded and toured by John Williams and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Recent commissions have come from; Ian Bostridge, Alt-J, Avi Avital, David Russell, Miloš Karadaglić, Xuefei Yang, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

 

Stephen Goss is Chair of Composition at the University of Surrey, Director of the International Guitar Research Centre, and a Professor of Guitar at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He was born on 2nd February 1964.
