The Tuag Opera cohort - six music-creators paired with six writers - have been collaborating for the last eight months to develop new Welsh Language opera. Mentored by conductor Iwan Teifion Davies, librettist Gwyneth Glyn, and director Michael McCarthy the group explored what opera in Wales can be today, and in the future, through a series of practical workshops.

Their pieces explored a wide range of social, political and environmental themes, and we’re pleased to be presenting them at the Eisteddfod in August. Watch this space for more information!

The Tuag Opera composer/writer pairs are Eady Crawford and Anna Sherratt, Nathan James Dearden and Siwan Llynor, Sarah Lianne Lewis and Beca Davies, Andrew Cusworth and Kayley Roberts, Lowri Mair Jones and Gwenno Gwilym, and Francesca Simmons and Teifi Emerald.

Tuag Opera was delivered in partnership with Music Theatre Wales. Thanks to the performers Paul Carey Jones, Elgan Llyr Thomas, Elin Pritchard, Llio Evans and Rhiannon Pritchard for their hard work and valuable contributions to the programme.
