Sion Orgon
Sion Orgon is a sonic alchemist renowned for his ability to blend diverse musical elements and create mind-bending sonic tapestries that transcend genre boundaries.
Born in 1975 in Cardiff, Orgon has established himself as an influential figure in the realm of experimental
composition and sound design. Since the early 2000s, he has captivated audiences with his innovative approach which merges electroacoustic free jazz, modular synthesis, field recordings and pop music, into a compelling auditory experience.

​Orgon burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of his debut solo album, Orgonised Chaos. The album garnered attention and a live four-track session was recorded at BBC Maida Vale, for Radio 3's acclaimed new music programme 'Mixing It.' This initial recognition set the
stage for Orgon’s solo career, marked by an impressive discography that includes six solo studio albums and numerous compilation albums, most recently featured on Modulisme, the modular synths’ leading platform for experimental and electronic music.
A member of the pioneering prog band,
Rocketgoldstar — famed for the creation of the world’s first silent gig in Cardiff in 1999 and the world’s longest single — Orgon's versatility and creative prowess has beend demonstrated throught his collaboration with leading artists including Thighpaulsandra, Coil, and Jesus Jones.
In addition to his work as a recording artist, Orgon has made significant contributions in the fields of contemporary dance and physical theatre and has written commissions for plays and site-specific productions. His immersive sound designs transport audiences to new realms, through sonic landscapes that complement the visual artistry.
He has composed music for numerous award-winning short films, television series, installations, and radio productions such as The Specialist for BBC Radio 4, bringing his high-quality production values and solo artistry together to form evocative and ambient soundscapes.
Beyond his artistic endeavours, Orgon is a highly respected audio mastering engineer, working internationally for distinguished artists and major record labels. His expertise has helped shape award-winning albums, most recently with the 2024 Welsh Music Prize-winning album 'Dos Bebes' by Welsh language art house band, Rogue Jones.
Orgon's work is often described as challenging yet rewarding and it refuses to conform to conventional expectations. A trailblazer in the artistic community, he crafts intricate, multi-layered soundscapes that push artistic boundaries, making him a natural fit for avant-garde film and theatre projects. His collaborations with Welsh artists and contributions to Earthfall’s dance theatre soundtracks have earned him nominations from BAFTA Cymru, and a string of international film festival awards most recently for his sound designs on both Amser / Time produced by Light Ladd and Emberton, and Slava directed and written by Roxane Gotz.
With a career spanning over three decades, Sion Orgon continues to inspire and innovate. He invites listeners and audiences to explore the depths of sound in ways that are both transformative and enriching. His dedication to pushing the limits of music and sound design, ensures that he remains a vital force in contemporary experimental art.
