Tŷ Cerdd is pleased to announce the composers and works chosen by the Welsh section of the ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music) to represent Wales at its World New Music Days 2026 in Romania. The panel selected a shortlist of six composers’ works/proposals as the official submission to the international jury:
Richard Barrett - luminous (2019)
ISCM category 14: ELECTRONIC WORKS (up-to-eight-channel loudspeaker system)
Angharad Davies - Circular Bowing Study (2020)
ISCM category 10: SOLO WORKS (with or without live electronics* / stereo fixed media – 'tape music')
"I am delighted that my score for Circular Bowing Study has been shortlisted for ISCM's World New Music Days. It's a huge honour for this work to be recognised in this way and am very grateful for Ty Cerdd's steadfast support in championing new work worldwide."

ISCM Welsh Section
ISCM Welsh exists to promote the aims of the ISCM, both within Wales, and in co-operation with the British, Irish, Scottish and other, international Sections. The Society aims to promote contemporary music and raise its public profile, through effective global networking, communication and facilitation of multilateral activities between the members.
Its mission is to:

Raise the profile of contemporary music through the collective strength of the Society’s global network and membership makeup.

Pursue exposure, research and performance of contemporary music through initiatives by its membership, as well as collaboration with affiliated bodies.

Showcase the diversity of contemporary music worldwide through the World New Music Days Festival.
World New Music Days
The World Music Days Festival is an annual meeting of the ISCM, organised and solely funded by different sections each year, as a platform for musical exchange and a showcase of world contemporary music, without prejudice or bias on differences in musical expressions, styles, genres or media. It aims to be a meeting place for organisations, performers and composers around the world. World Music Days takes place in consecutive days in the host country and can be organised in any format which suits the artistic and practical preferences of the organiser in accordance with ISCM Statutes, reflecting the diversity of contemporary music. The festival strives to represent all legitimate members of the ISCM in one way or another through the activities of its programmes, including performances, seminars, exhibitions, and networking.

Mae ISCM Cymru yn bodoli er mwyn hyrwyddo amcanion yr ISCM, yng Nghymru ac mewn cydweithrediad ag adrannau Prydain, Iwerddon, Yr Alban ac adrannau rhyngwladol eraill. Nod y Gymdeithas yw hyrwyddo cerddoriaeth gyfoes a chodi’i phroffil cyhoeddus drwy rwydweithio effeithiol yn fyd-eang, cyfathrebu a hwyluso gweithgareddau amlochrog rhwng yr aelodau. Dyddiau Cerddoriaeth Newydd y Byd
Mae Gŵyl Dyddiau Cerddoriaeth y Byd yn gyfarfod blynyddol o’r ISCM, sy’n cael ei drefnu a’i ariannu’n gyfan gwbl gan wahanol adrannau bob blwyddyn, fel llwyfan ar gyfer cyfnewid cerddorol ac arddangos cerddoriaeth gyfoes y byd, heb ragfarn na rhagfarn ar wahaniaethau mewn ymadroddion, arddulliau, genres cerddorol. neu gyfryngau. Ei nod yw bod yn fan cyfarfod i sefydliadau, perfformwyr a chyfansoddwyr ledled y byd. Mae Diwrnodau Cerddoriaeth y Byd yn digwydd mewn diwrnodau olynol yn y wlad sy’n croesawu a gellir eu trefnu mewn unrhyw fformat sy’n gweddu i ddewisiadau artistig ac ymarferol y trefnydd yn unol â Statudau ISCM, gan adlewyrchu amrywiaeth cerddoriaeth gyfoes. Mae’r ŵyl yn ymdrechu i gynrychioli holl aelodau cyfreithlon yr ISCM mewn rhyw ffordd neu’i gilydd trwy weithgareddau ei rhaglenni, gan gynnwys perfformiadau, seminarau, arddangosfeydd, a rhwydweithio.
