CALL: Hilda Hunter Scholarship 01.09.26

As the result of a bequest in the will of the late Hilda Hunter, the Society is able to award a scholarship to a deserving student of Welsh folk music.

Hilda Hunter was a musician and music teacher with a keen interest in the Welsh folk tradition, and she was eager that interest in the tradition should continue.

The Society wishes to award a scholarship of £2,000, tenable for one year, in the field of Welsh folk music. The money may be used to promote research in the field or to support aspects of folk music performance, vocal or instrumental.

Possible areas include: research for a university dissertation; a plan to present folk music in schools or in the community; receiving training in folk music. The scholarship is not confined to these areas, and applications related to any aspect of Welsh folk music will be welcomed.

The scholarship holder is expected to submit quarterly reports to the Society's Executive Committee and write an article / report for Canu Gwerin, the Society's annual journal, to present the fruits of the research or conclusions drawn from the project.
