Joyous Bucharest festival celebrates new music from around the globe

ISCM World New Music Days 2026 Bucharest was a particularly special edition. Tŷ Cerdd attended to represent the Welsh Section (and our director, Deborah Keyser, sits on the organisation’s Executive Committee).

Wales was represented by Richard Barrett's electronic work 'Luminous'.

Alongside music from around the globe, the ISCM Welsh section was represented by Richard Barrett’s luminous, and we celebrated with our neighbours from the Scottish, Irish and (for the last time) British Sections as their composers Louise Harris, Caterina Schembri and Jiajing Zhao’s works were performed.

Enormous thanks to the ISCM Romanian Section, who hosted with such care and warmth, and presented such thoughtfully curated concerts.
