Tŷ Cerdd ar y Maes | Tŷ Cerdd on the Maes 2023

Eisteddfod sign on a sunny day

Buodd Tŷ Cerdd ar y Maes drwy gydol wythnos yr Eisteddfod ym Moduan, gan rannu stondin gyda’n ffrindiau a chydweithwyr o sefydliadau cerddoriaeth cenedlaethol eraill: Anthem, Making Music, WNO a Cherddorfa Genedlaethol Gymreig y BBC.

Mwynheuon ni sgyrsiau gydag ymwelwyr â’r stondin, a hyrwyddon ni cerddoriaeth Gymreig trwy amrywiaeth o gyhoeddiadau cerddoriaeth ddalen a recordiadau. Buom hefyd yn hyrwyddo cerddoriaeth Gymraeg ar y Maes drwy amrywiaeth o berfformiadau:

Tŷ Cerdd was resident on the Maes throughout Eisteddfod week in Boduan, sharing a stand with our friends and colleagues from other national music organisations: Anthem, Making Music, WNO and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

We enjoyed conversations with visitors to the stand, and promoted Welsh music through an array of sheet music publications and recordings. We also championed Welsh music on the Maes through a range of performances:

Angharad Jenkins and Patrick Rimes performing yn y Ty Gwerin

Lansiodd y ddeuawd werin Angharad Jenkins a Patrick Rimes eu halbwm Newydd amrwd ar Recordiau Tŷ Cerdd gyda pherfformiad yn Tŷ Gwerin dan ei sang ar ddydd Sul 6 Awst – a ddilynwyd gan drafodaeth yn ein stondin ynystyried effaith WOMEX 2013 yng Nghaerdydd.

Welsh folk duo Angharad Jenkins and Patrick Rimes launched their new Tŷ Cerdd Records album amrwd with a performance to a packed-out Tŷ Gwerin on Sunday 6 August – followed by a discussion event in our stand considering the impact of WOMEX 2013 in Cardiff.

Buom yn cydweithio â’n bartneriaid hirdymor, y Coleg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru ar ddau berfformiad Darganfod Cerddoriaeth Cymru ar lwyfan #Encore, ar 7 a 9 Awst – lle bu staff a myfyrwyr (a chyn-fyfyrwyr) yn perfformio repertoire Cymreig:

  • Cyflwynodd Elen Wyn ddatganiad i nodi 90 mlynedd ers geni David Harries, ei weithiau’n cael eu perfformio gan y delynores Cerys Rees a’r pianyddion Zoe Smith a Rhiannon Pritchard.

  • Mewn arddangosfa graddedigion, perfformiodd Cerys Rees a Cai Thomas gerddoriaeth gan amrywiaeth o gyfansoddwyr Cymreig byw.

We collaborated with long-term partners Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on two Discover Welsh Music performances on the #Encore stage, on 7 & 9 August – in which staff and students (past and present) performed Welsh repertoire:

  • Elen Wyn introduced a recital to mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of David Harries, his works performed by harpist Cerys Rees and pianists Zoe Smith and Rhiannon Pritchard.

  • In a graduate showcase, Cerys Rees and Cai Thomas performed music by a range of living Welsh composers.

Aleighcia Scott, Eadyth, Adjua and Aisha

Roedd CoDI Cân yn ddigwyddiad arbennig ar 10 Awst, yn arddangos caneuon newydd sbon gan artistiaid ifanc o liw. Mae’r artistiaid Aisha Kigs ac Adjua, dysgwyr Cymraeg newydd sbon, wedi bod yn gweithio ar eu caneuon cyntaf yn yr iaith Gymraeg, ochr yn ochr â’u mentoriaid Eädyth ac Aleighcia Scott. Perfformiodd y pedwar cân Cymraeg mewn digwyddiad llawen, dathliadol ar lwyfan #Encore – ac roeddem yn falch iawn o groesawu criw Heno S4C i’n stondin yn syth ar ôl y perfformiad i recordio’r caneuon yn arbennig i’w darlledu ar Heno y noson honno.

CoDI Cân was a special event on 10 August, showcasing brand new works written by young artists of colour. Artists Aisha Kigs and Adjua, brand new Welsh learners, have each been working on their first songs in the Welsh language, alongside mentors Eädyth and Aleighcia Scott. All four performed Welsh songs in a joyful, celebratory event on the #Encore stage – and we were delighted to welcome S4C's Heno into our stand immediately after the performance to record the songs specially for broadcast on Heno that evening.
