Julia Plaut

CoDI NightMusic composers announced

Following an open call for applications, Tŷ Cerdd has commissioned two Welsh composers to write works for St David’s Hall’s NightMusic series. Each of them will receive a commission fee of £500, plus support from Tŷ Cerdd and NightMusic curating composer William Marsey during the process, and Tŷ Cerdd will publish the resulting work (100% of royalties going to the composer).

Ethnie Foulkes has been selected to compose a song to be performed by soprano Ruby Hughes, accompanied by pianist Huw Watkins on Tuesday 28 March. The duo's warm, eclectic recital of new and old will also include music by Watkins himself, Benjamin Britten, Errollyn Wallen, Cheryl Frances-Hoad alongside works from Bach and Purcell (via Tippett and Adès).
