TÅ· Cerdd in association with Brass Bands Wales invites applications for

European Youth Brass Band Competition 2024

Palangosks Koncertu, Palanga, Lithuania on Sunday 5 May 2024

as part of the European Brass Band Championships 2024

Each EBBA member country is invited to nominate TWO youth bands every year to participate in the contest, one for each section of the event. The competition has two sections, the Premier and Development sections. There is no fee for entering the competition and qualifying bands can expect to have to submit their programme by March 2024. The set pieces for each section will be announced by EBBA in due course, likely to be no later than 1 December 2023.

Bands participating in the contest may be established youth bands, school bands, regional bands, national bands or 'project bands' made up of an amalgam of players selected to form a band to play in the contest. However, as each band will be representing their country, all players in each band MUST consist of players who are only from that country.

All youth brass bands must be made up of standard British brass band in terms of instrumentation. Bands may play a maximum of 50 players, including percussion.

Adjudication in Palanga

There will be two adjudicators who will be in the open and therefore able to see the bands' performances. Adjudicators will make written remarks on each performance.

The two adjudicators will take into account the following aspects of the bands' performances based on:

1. The musical excellence of the performance

2. The quality and balance of the programme played

The entertainment value to the audience of the performance of the music
