Richard Barret i gynrychioli Cymru yng ngŵyl ISCM

Mae gwaith ar gyfer electroneg gan Richard Barrett wedi'i ddewis i gynrychioli Cymru yn ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music) World New Music Days 2026. Bydd y darn yn cael ei gyflwyno fel rhan o'r ŵyl Rwmanaidd, o'r enw Columna Infinita, a gynhelir yn Bucharest rhwng 23 a 31 Mai 2026.

Dywedodd Barrett: “I’m particularly pleased to be representing Welsh composers at the ISCM World Music Days. At the present moment, support for musical creation and education is under pressure in Wales as in many other parts of the world, leading for example to the music department at Cardiff University almost closing down altogether last year until protests from staff, students and many musicians led to a partial change of heart - and this at a time when arguably we need more than ever to keep music and the other arts alive and evolving and bearing witness to the potential of human intelligence and imagination, when fear, uncertainty and the worst aspects of humanity seem to face us everywhere we look. I hope my electronic composition luminous might make some small contribution of its own.”

Richard Barret to represent Wales in ISCM festival

A work for electronics by Richard Barrett has been selected to represent Wales at ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music) World New Music Days 2026. The piece will be presented as part of the Romanian festival, entitled Columna Infinita, taking place in Bucharest between 23 & 31 May 2026.

Barrett said: “I’m particularly pleased to be representing Welsh composers at the ISCM World Music Days. Richard Barrett was one of six composers whose work was selected by the Welsh panel to go before the Romanian jury. The other five artists and their works are:
