Wilia a Whare - Community Traditional Music Day, Theatr Clwyd
On Sunday 12 April, Theatr Clwyd hosted the first Wilia a Whare community traditional music day. Led by Awen Blandford and Yasmine Latkowski, and supported by Jordan Price Williams from Tŷ Cerdd, the day brought together musicians and community members to explore how traditions are passed on and why they matter.
Through discussion and shared music-making, participants reflected on the role of intangible cultural heritage within traditional practice. Yasmine led a session teaching an Egyptian song, opening up conversations around different approaches to learning and teaching, and how we can make traditional music more accessible to a wider range of people.
The day created space for exchange, curiosity and for community to lay the groundwork for strengthening the traditional arts.
