Mae’r cyfansoddwr Tom Davoren, sydd yn wreiddiol o ardal y Gŵyr a bellach wedi ei leoli yng Nghaerdydd, wedi astudio yng Ngholeg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru a Phrifysgol Caerdydd gan dderbyn Gwobr Cyfansoddi Urdd Lifrai Cymru ac ysgoloriaeth o Gyngor Ymchwil y Celfyddydau a’r Dyniaethau. Cafodd ei enwebi ar gyfer gwobr Cyfansoddwr Prydeinig BASCA yn 2011, enillodd Cystadleuaeth Cyfansoddwyr Ewropeaidd EBBA 2012 ac mae wedi derbyn Gwobr Harvey Phillips ar gyfer rhagoriaeth mewn cyfansoddi, wedi ei gyflwyno gan Gymdeithas Ryngwladol Tiwba Ewffoniwm yn 2014.

Music ac wedi ei chomisiynu gan nifer eang o ensemblau sydd yn cynnwys Central Band y Lluoedd Awyr, Brass Band of Battle Creek a Band y Cory yn ogystal ag unawdwyr nodedig, gan gynnwys Philippe Schartz, Glen Van Looy a Steven Mead. Mae ei weithiau wedi cael eu perfformio ar draws y byd, yn arbennig yn Carnegie Hall, Efrog Newydd, Cystadleuaeth Cerddoriaeth y Byd yn Kerkarde, Yr Iseldiroedd ac yn adrannau unawd a band ym Mhencampwriaethau Cenedlaethol Bandiau Seland Newydd, Awstralia a Phrydain. Wedi gweithio i gylchgrawn Brass Band World mewn rôl olygyddol ac awdur ers 2011, mae hefyd wedi gwasanaethu yn olygydd i ‘Winds’, cyfnodolyn Cymdeithas Bandiau Chwyth a Phres Symffonig Prydain.


Mae’n arweinydd profiadol ac wedi profi cryn lwyddiant yng nghystadlaethau Prydeinig a mae Tom wedi arwain BTM Band a Filton Band yn y gorffennol ac ar hyn o bryd yn Gyfarwyddwr
Cerdd Desford Colliery Band ac Arweinydd Cyswllt gyda’r Fairey Band.

 

Originally from Gower in South Wales, Tom Davoren is a Cardiff based composer who studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Cardiff University during which time he received the Welsh Livery Guild Composition Award and a scholarship from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. He was a BASCA British Composer Award nominee in 2011, a prize-winner at the EBBA European Composers’ Competition 2012 and the recipient of a Harvey Phillips Award for excellence in composition, presented by the International Tuba Euphonium Association in 2014.


Tom’s music forband is premiered and commissioned the world over by artists including ‘The President’s Own’ United States Marine Band, Central Band of the Royal Air Force, Brass Band of Battle Creek and the Cory Band as well as prominent soloists such as Philippe Schartz, Glen Van Looy and Steven Mead. Notable premieres of his work have been given at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the International Trumpet Guild and International Tuba and Euphonium conferences, the World Music Contest and at the solo and band sections of the National Band Championships of New Zealand, Australia and Great Britain.


Tom began his conducting career with the BTM Band from South Wales and has since gone on to success as Musical Director of Desford Colliery Band, Associate Conductor of the Fairey Band and Musical Director of Bristol’s Filton Concert Brass, who he has established as one of the UK’s newest championship bands. He also enjoys close connections as a conductor with Maidstone Wind Symphony (UK), Brooklyn Wind Symphony (USA), Harmonie Shostakovich (Switzerland) and Windcorp Brass Band (Sweden).
