Following an open call which drew in excess of 60 bids,  9 music-creators were selected to work with a remarkable central team of 7 lead artists, all making waves in their own genres and fields. The cohort of artists will come together under Tŷ Cerdd's latest pathway CoDi Self to develop their own practices through collaboration with others on two intensive retreats this spring.

The resulting cohort of participants and lead-artists reflects a range of genres, ages, languages and lived experiences.

  • Catrin Finch – multi-genre composer & harpist

  • Eädyth – soul/jazz/RnB electronic music-creator

  • Lady Nade – folk/Americana singer-songwriter

  • Mr Phormula –beat-boxer/rapper/live-looping artist

  • N’famady Kouyaté – singer-songwriter/balafon master; Artistic Director of Successors of the Mandingue

  • Rowland Sutherland – jazz/classical/experimental flautist, composer, arranger, bandleader and educator

  • Kiddus Murrell – singer-songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist/visual artist; Tŷ Cerdd Resident Music Creator

The artists came together at retreats in Mid-Wales and Cardiff in March and April, where they focused on artistic process and took the resulting work into the Tŷ Cerdd studio.

The CoDi Self pathway was supported by Arts Council of Wales, PRS Foundation and Youth Music
